Medieval Mile Museum FAQ

How long is a Tour of the Museum?

Our Guided Tours last approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour, and we recommend allowing a minimum of 45 minutes for our Self-guided Tours.
Our Medieval Mile Trail last approximately 1 hour, and tickets also include entry to the Museum for an Interactive Audio Tour.

Do I have to book in advance?

We recommend that visitors book in advance via our website to ensure entry at their preferred date and time slot. By booking in advance you also ensure you pay the cheapest price. However tickets can still be purchased without a reservation from our ticket desk when you arrive.

What are the Museums Opening Hours?

The Medieval Mile Museum is open 7 days a week from 9.430 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (last entry 4.50p.m.)  Opening hours may vary on public holidays or during special events.

How much are tickets to the Museum?

  • Guided Tour – Adults €910.00 | Student/OAP €9.00 | Child €5 | Family (2 x Adults & up to 2 x Children under 16) €25
  • Medieval Mile Trail – Adults €14.00 | Student/OAP €10.00 |Child €6 | Family (2 x Adults & up to 2 x Children under 16) €35

All tours include all day entry to museum with an audio guide.

Do I have to print my booking confirmation to gain entry?

There is no need to print your booking confirmation email. Showing your booking confirmation email on your mobile device will gain you entry to the Museum.

How do I make a booking for a large group?

How do I get there?

The Medieval Mile Museum is located in the heart of Kilkenny City Centre. See our ‘Getting Here’ page for our location on Google Maps.

Does the Museum have Audio Guides?

Yes, our Interactive Audio Tour is available in English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. The Audio Guide Content can also be downloaded directly to your own personal device.

Is the building wheelchair accessible?

Can I hire the Museum for a Wedding or Private Event?

Is there a café in the Museum?

We don’t have a café in the Museum, however we are ideally situated on High St. in Kilkenny City with lots of great options within walking distance.

Is the Medieval Mile Museum suitable for children?

Yes. The museum is family-friendly and includes interactive displays and activities designed to engage younger visitors. Children can also take part in a LEGO minifigure hunt throughout the museum, making the visit enjoyable as well as educational.

Is there parking at the Medieval Mile Museum?

There is no on-site parking at the museum.

The closest public car parks are:

  • Ormonde Street Car Park
  • Market Yard Car Park

Both are a short walk from the museum and are well signposted from Kilkenny city centre.

Are service dogs allowed?

Yes. Registered service and assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.

What attractions are near the Medieval Mile Museum?

The Medieval Mile Museum is approximately a 5–7 minute walk from Kilkenny Castle and sits along the Medieval Mile route linking the castle to St Canice’s Cathedral.
