Combining sensitive restoration and contemporary architectural design, St. Mary’s Church and Graveyard has been converted and extended into a modern museum and exhibition centre.
Designed to enrich the culture life of the city and provide a new attraction for visitors the Medieval Mile Museum can also be hired for private functions, temporary exhibitions and cultural events outside of museum opening times.

History v Archaeology – A History Ireland Hedge School
March 16, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm€8.00 – €10.00
History Ireland Hedge Schools are lively, unfettered debates and provide a novel and interesting way to bring historical topics to life.
As part of Kilkenny Tradfest, and the first Hedge School to take place in the Medieval Mile Museum, we’ll be considering what the relationship is between history and archaeology and how the two disciplines develop our understanding of the past. Simply put, which is better?! To discuss these and related matters join Tommy Graham, editor of History Ireland and frequent presenter of Talking History on Newstalk radio for a lively debate with medieval historians Sean Duffy and Matthew Stout and archaeologists Geraldine Stout and Christine Baker.
Ticket price includes refreshment, with thanks to Costello’s Brewing Company.
